Excluding one-time items, American Eagle posted adjusted earnings of 61 cents per share. In the current quarter, American Eagle expects sales to be up by a mid-single digit percentage, which is in line with estimates of up 5%, according to LSEG. During the Covid pandemic, American Eagle spent hundreds of millions of dollars acquiring a number of shipping and distribution companies that eventually became Quiet Platforms, the retailer's internal logistics branch. Last spring, American Eagle acknowledged that Quiet Platforms wasn't performing as it had expected. To increase profits, American Eagle plans to amplify its brands by growing its namesake banner, boost Aerie's expansion and develop the activewear assortment at its Offline banner.

Browning West's move is unusual in the activist world, where investors are more often focused on replacing CEOs than backing them. Browning West, a long-time shareholder, points to Chamandy's success in an increasingly competitive industry as one reason why he should be CEO. Berg has served on Gildan's board since 2015 and has been chair since 2019. Browning West seeks to replace Berg and seven other directors with their own nominees, including Chamandy and Browning West's Lee. Last week, Gildan applied to a Quebec court to nullify Browning West's request and to cancel the meeting.

Hashtag searches for dupes of major brands - including Skims underwear and Deckers' (DECK.N) Ugg boots - have been viewed millions of times on TikTok. Graphic shows pictures of four original products and their original prices under named brands compared with the prices of their 'dupe' counterparts. Newer technologies like the Google Lens app allow people to take photos of items they like and find similar products for sale. In other cases, dupe sellers opt to replicate the look of higher-priced originals with cheaper materials to maximize profit. However, experts say dupe sellers have grown increasingly skilled at avoiding brand logos and other design features that could infringe existing patents or copyrights.

Shein and Forever 21 are slated to unveil a co-branded clothing line after the two retailers launched a joint venture earlier this year that turned the would-be competitors into partners, the companies announced on Friday. Under the partnership, Shein will design, manufacture and distribute a line of co-branded Forever 21 apparel and accessories that will be sold primarily on Shein's website. The announcement comes about two months after Shein and Forever 21's operator Sparc Group inked a deal that saw both companies take a stake in each other's businesses. Under the agreement, Shein acquired about one-third of Sparc Group — a joint venture that includes brand management firm Authentic Brands Group and mall owner Simon Property Group — while Sparc took a minority stake in Shein. For Forever 21, its partnership with Shein helps the retailer to regain the relevancy it once had in the mid-2010s and win over younger customers who are more likely to shop online than they are in malls.

When the Fitbit tracker launched in 2009, 45 years after Yamasa's gadget cemented the 10,000-steps ideal in the public consciousness, it kick-started a boom in fitness wearables and spawned a frenzy for health data. This flood of easily accessible health data has certainly had some positive effects. Many fitness-tracking products also incorporate social-sharing features, which can give us a better perspective on how our exercise habits stack up against our friends', providing a little healthy competition as motivation. Nike's stock tumbled Wednesday for the 10th day in a row after Foot Locker reported dismal quarterly results and consumers continue to pull back from the footwear sector. "This became much more evident through the second quarter including a weaker start to back to school. The store traffic and conversion challenges we began to see in late Q1 persisted through the second quarter as our customer remained cautious with their discretionary dollars," she said. China's uneven recovery could also be weighing on Nike's stock. However, it's unclear if that growth is continuing and what the results will look like when Nike next reports earnings.

It governs weight management and your energy levels, not to mention your skin’s appearance and your ability to fend off illness. Others have tried to argue that some of the chemicals in clothing fell within the legal and regulatory limits. The signs that something is very, very wrong with our reproductive health and endocrine systems are myriad. After all, you might be undoing the benefits of hitting the gym every day when your workout clothes could be doing so much damage to your health.
